Are you passionate about success? Do you want work experience in an exciting Hackney company? Are you interested in technology, fashion, media, financial services, hospitality? Do you want to earn money outside school hours, whilst building up your CV?
We're working with Inspire! to create 100 paid work placements for young people aged 16-19 at high profile Hackney businesses. The placement will last for a minimum of 70 hours and a maximum of six months, fitting around your schedule and running alongside your school work, and you'll be paid for the work you do.
The Hackney 100 programme has now launched.
You will be paid the maximum national minimum wage, which is currently £7.50 per hour. That's money that you can use to enjoy yourself or save for your future.
Whatever your employer asks you to do. You'll be expected to pitch in as part of the team in the workplace, and you'll be given a business mentor from the company to work with, to help you get the most out of the opportunity. You'll be expected to be reliable, punctual and professional.
All applications will be looked at by the Hackney 100 team who are very experienced at matching people with job opportunities. The successful candidates will be those who do the best job of convincing the team that they have what it takes to make the most of this opportunity.
The Hackney 100 programme aims to provide:
- young Hackney residents aged 16-19 with meaningful paid work placements
- real insights into potential career routes
- demonstrable workplace experience to include on a future CV
- workplace skills, confidence and 'softer' skills through first exposure to real life experience
The Hackney 100 programme is a one of the ways we enable residents from across the borough to get access to high quality career paths.
The Council will lead on all elements of outreach, recruitment, training and evaluation as well as providing ongoing support and an end of placement review. By providing the first meaningful paid work experience for a young person through Hackney 100, you'll benefit from a robust screening procedure and pre-employment training for participants, staff development opportunities and flexible working arrangements suited to business needs.
Working with us gives your business the chance to be a part of, and shape, the borough's employment and skills agenda. You'll also help fulfil one of the Mayor's key manifesto pledges, which is to connect young people in the borough with careers in Hackney's growth sectors. 25 placements will be hosted within the Council itself.
