Join a litter pick

These community groups organise regular litter picks that you can join:

Organise a litter pick

We particularly need help at:

We recommend that you:

  • complete a risk assessment (Google doc)
  • email local councillors, schools, community groups, park user groups and faith organisations and ask them to spread the word
  • make sure people know where and when to meet, what clothes to wear and which equipment to bring on
  • make sure volunteers know about health and safety risks, who is responsible for first aid, how to use the equipment, the route and timings
  • do not disturb animals, damage plants or remove natural ‘rubbish’ like logs, stones and weeds – they can be home to animals
  • make sure all volunteers, particularly children, know what not to pick up, like drug-related litter - note the location and tell us instead

Please tell us about the results of the pick, how much you collected and how many people turned up.

How we can help

We can:

  • provide litter pickers and bin bags
  • collect the filled bags
  • publicise the event in our monthly parks newsletter
  • print posters for you, if you send us the designs, and put them up on park noticeboards
