Library fees and fines

Reminders

You will be sent a reminder after 28 days, when an item you’ve borrowed becomes overdue. Only one notification will be sent out. It’s free by email or text so please keep your library account up to date. If you’d like a printed notification there will be a £1 charge. No charge for under 18s, over 60s and disabled people.

Overdue fees

• books, CDs, language courses and spoken word items: 20p per day (maximum £8 per item)
• no charge for under 18s

Reservation charges

• 50p for all items in stock in Hackney Libraries or London Libraries Consortium (LLC)
• £2 for items not in stock in Hackney Libraries or the LLC
• £15 per item from the British Library (payable in advance)
• no charge for under 18s

Replacement membership card

• adults: £1
• under 18s, senior citizens and people with disabilities: 50p

Lost or damaged stock

£6 per item unless otherwise indicated.

Books, DVDs and CDs

Free – no loan charge.

Computers

Use of computers and wifi is free for all Hackney Libraries members.
