Parking enforcement on bank holidays

We operate a consistent approach to bank holiday parking enforcement, which is set out below. Please note that if Boxing Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday this won’t be treated as a bank holiday and normal Saturday/Sunday enforcement will apply.

While not all restrictions are enforced on a bank holiday, we’ll enforce if there are safety and traffic flow implications or if a vehicle is causing an obstruction.

Parking restrictions in operation on bank holidays

A penalty charge notice (PCN) may be issued to vehicles parked in these circumstances and/or locations:

  • double yellow lines
  • single yellow lines
  • where a loading ban is in operation (indicated by a single/double yellow line kerb blips and a nearby sign stating the hours during which loading is not permitted)
  • bus stops
  • general use disabled bays (including personalised permit bays allocated to a single disabled driver that has passed a set criteria)
  • blue badge bays
  • box junctions
  • banned turns
  • footway parking
  • zigzag lines
  • parking across a dropped footway
  • double parking
  • car club bays
  • electric vehicle charging bays
  • suspended bays
  • cycleways

Note: Bus lane and moving traffic restrictions (such as box junctions and banned turns) are enforced as normal on bank holidays.

Event day operational hours – Emirates Stadium

Emirates Stadium event area zones may be operational on bank holidays.

If there’s an event taking place at the stadium, zones G, G2 and sections of zone M may be operational on bank holidays and the weekend. Always check the zone entry plates for information on event restrictions before parking in these bays:

  • resident or shared use (resident permit or pay and display) bays
  • pay and display bays
  • business permit holder bays
  • loading bays
  • motorcycle bays

Weekday matches

Zone G

8:30am-8:30pm.

Zone G2

8:30am-8:30pm.

Zone M

8:30am-8:30pm.

Saturday matches

Zone G

12 noon-4:30pm.

Zone G2

Covered by normal CPZ hours (8:30am-6:30pm).

Zone M

8:30am-4:30pm.

Sunday / bank holiday matches

Zone G

12 noon-4:30pm.

Zone G2

12 noon-4:30pm.

Zone M

12 noon-4:30pm.

Event day operational hours – Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and London Stadium (QEOP) events

  • weekdays – 6.30pm until 8.30pm (in addition to existing controls)
  • weekends and bank holidays – 12 noon until 6pm

Parking restrictions not in operation on bank holidays

Unless the above applies, enforcement of the following restrictions will not apply and a PCN will not be issued to vehicles parked in these bays:

  • resident or shared use (resident permit or pay and display) bays
  • pay and display bays
  • business permit holder bays
  • doctors bays
  • loading bays
  • market trader permit bays
  • motorcycle bays
