Free swimming in Hackney

Under 18s, over 60s, disabled people and their carers can swim for free across the borough, all year round at Britannia Leisure Centre, Clissold Leisure Centre and Kings Hall Leisure Centre. Disabled people and their carers can also swim for free at London Fields Lido.

Sport for young people

There are many sports activities for young people in Hackney, such as various running events and the annual London Youth Games.

New age games - sport for the over 50s

The new age games is a fun sports activity programme open to all Hackney residents aged 50+. Its aim is to encourage older people to try out new sports such as archery, swimming, aerobics and cycling. 

After-stroke exercise programme

Fit 4 health is a programme to help sufferers of a stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA). It aims to improve clients' weight loss, blood pressure, strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and happiness. 

ONE YOU community fitness and cooking classes

Our borough-wide programme of free and affordable fitness, including £1 fitness classes and 'cook and eat' courses taking place in estates and parks. ONE YOU classes.

We award sports grants to athletes, clubs and coaches in Hackney to help them achieve their potential. There are also a range of sports employment and training opportunities on offer.

With its beautiful parks and open spaces, Hackney is a great place to walk and run. Hackney is also a great place to cycle. We provide 2 hours' free cycle training and we also have a cycle loan scheme

The GLL Sport Foundation helps young talented athletes achieve their full sporting potential by reducing sporting costs while making sport easier to access.
